3D laser scan solutions for monuments

Our built environment is full of architectural highlights that originated in a period in which everything was still drawn by hand and in 2D. To preserve these buildings for the future, major renovations are often necessary and given a new purpose. Stately villas become offices and factories are transformed into modern residential destinations.

Nowadays, the designs are drawings in 3D and therefore the existing situation must be digitized in 3D-CAD to be able to connect. 3D laser scanning is the ideal support for this process by capturing the existing ‘as built’ environment in a short time with the right accuracy. The relevant dimensions can be included in the scans or the point clouds can be exported for translation into CAD models. For the IAA (architects) a building on the former Texoprint industrial site has been scanned and documented in this way.
